I recently read the book Anything But Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin and I really enjoyed it. I read it so I could review it for the children's room but I quickly realized it is really more of a "young adult" type of read. The book is about a 12 year old boy who is diagnosed with "autistic spectrum disorder", or ASD. The book is written from his point of view and it is so compelling and believable. I think it gives a unique insight into not only autism but into anyone who is different. The characters are easy to relate to and the story itself is simple but compelling. I highly recommend this book.
