EARN COMMUNITY SERVICE CREDITS!!!!!!

     We have recently added some new ways for teens to earn community service credits for school.  We will be scheduling volunteer days when you can come in to help the librarians in the teen room and earn credit.  See Miss Amelia for more details.

Or you can  volunteer to help out with a specific children’s program and  earn community service credit while having fun at the same time!!

We are currently looking for some teen volunteers to assist with the Rock Star Read-Athon on Sat Feb 9th

Looking for something fun to do after school? Come in to Teen Blvd and visit the Creation Station!!  There are lots of art supplies available...you just supply the creativity.  Look at what some of our teens have made already! The only limit is your imagination...

6th Annual Poetry Contest

FRIENDS OF WATER COOPERATION

     Inspired by the United Nations 2013 designation, the theme this year is the necessity of clean water--for health, hygiene, enjoyment--and the importance of helping, through education and diplomacy, those less fortunate than we are access to clean water.  Contestants may enter up to three original poems, no longer than 32 lines each.  Please include your name, address, age phone number and name of your school and submit poems along with entry form.

     This contest is open to children and teens enrolled in the community schools of Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, East Moriches, Eastport, East Quogue, Manorville, Quiogue, Remsenburg and Speonk.

The poems will be judged in four categories:

Kindergarten- grade 2

Grades 3-6

Grades 7-9

Grades 10-12

     A winner from each category will receive a cash prize of $50.00 with second place receiving $25.00 and honorable mention receiving $10.00.   The winning poems will be published in the Westhampton Free Library’s Newsletter.
