The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein - Book Review

Thursday, April 24, 2014 0

If you love animals, especially dogs... this is the book for you!

Enzo, a lab mix, knows he is not like other dogs… he is an old soul trapped in a dogs body. Throughout his days, he educates himself through television (usually car races, which is his favorite!) and of course his owner, Denny, a race car driver himself.

Enzo narrates his life journey with Denny, and the obstacles that they both face along the way. This is a story of love, family, choices, and hope. The Art of Racing in the Rain is a look into the world of humans, through a dogs eyes.

Gym Candy by Carl Deuker - Book Review

Thursday, April 10, 2014 0
Gym Candy is about a high school freshman named Mick Johnson. He is a star football player for the school team. Once he goes to a few practices, he realizes he needs to make sure he can be stronger than them so he can start his position. He works out at a place called Popeyes. There he's offered steroids and eventually takes them. And they can only lead to bad things.

In my opinion, I thought this book was excellent. I think any sports player would like it, but I would even recommend it to anyone. I like that it really is one of those books that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. There is always something happening that is important and meaningful towards the story, and all the events are interesting in the way the author writes. We all know about how bad these kinds of drugs can be but reading a whole story on it really opens it up more, and makes you think deep about what is going to happen to Mike.
